I took the opportunity to record this new video for you guys (Which I have also uploaded to my YouTube account) whilst I was spending some time chilling on the beach over the weekend.
It covers my number one tip that I recommend strongly when dealing with outsourcing and trying to build a quality team for your business. I have outsourced for years now and manage a team of some great people. Some of the key people in that team are a huge part of the successful development of my projects.
Watch the video now.
I really cannot stress enough how important this one tip is to successful outsourcing. I wouldnt have enjoyed any of the results I have had so far without putting this tip into practise every day.

Hey Josh,
This video out outsourcing was nothing short of inspring.
It’s an absolute must isn’t it? When I think about the time it takes me to muddle through things at the moment – wow, I’m envious man.
How do you hook up with people like Mark Fowler?
BYW – Beautiful part of the world – any surf?
Speak soon,
Andrew.

Hey Josh.
Outsourcing is one of those things you don’t really look at too much when you first start, but after a while, you couldn’t run your business without it!
From talking to you, I know you have got yourself a really good team, and that is half the battle.
If you find some people who you work well with, keep them happy!
I like what you said about ‘taking them with you’. I can see why that would motivate them. It makes people want to work for you, and impress!
I have just received some articles I had outsourced. While i have been having some beers at a BBQ today – someone has written them for me! You can’t beat it…
Great post!

Well, I’m touched by that. You’re right – close to being a genius, but not quite. One day
Most of you guys will be from the other side to me, so maybe I can be interesting for you. As someone who is on the more practical side of web work, I have to say that I will do my best work for Josh. You simply can’t underestimate the value of the inspiration that he can instill. Whenever we start a new project, we have a call and he sells it to me. People I’ve worked with in the past make a mistake there, and don’t provide any vision; any reason for me to want it.
Remember, the best developer won’t just churn out code. Our hearts go into it. You don’t become a web developer by accident – you have to love it, and have the passion to create things. Useful, real appplications which real people will use and leverage.
How many times have I rewritten things ‘just because’, in my own time? (Josh can vouch for that!)
But once the vision is there, let your developer solve your problems for you. That’s our job. If we’re given that freedom, we can open up avenues you guys just wouldn’t think of.
And then? Each member of your team compliments the others. Everyone does what they’re best at. And it’s onwards and upwards from there.

Hey Andrew,
Thanks for the great comment, yes I believe its a total must. Otherwise, it doesnt matter who you are, you can only ever get so much done in a 24hr period. Plus, you end up doing the stuff which keeps you from focusing on the way ahead.
Its a little like trying to steer the ship in the right way when you are below decks in the kitchen sorting out food. (i.e. not possible) Sure you will end up with a nice meal for everyone on board but eventually when you get back on deck you will notice you went the wrong way and have to readjust your heading. This is the same with business, if you spend so much time “Below deck” focusing on the jobs at hand, there is no way you can steer your business in the right direction, and noone can steer it for you.
This is how I look at it anyway, im lucky to have a GREAT team, one of which commented above and I value my team above nearly anything else in my business.
Hey David
Yeah exactly man, why would someone have a vested interest if they can see that you are effectively using them to do your donkey work. Sure, sometimes thats all you need but for your real core team, the key people who work WITH you (not for you) on your business, these people need to know that its their success too.
Hey Marc,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a great comment, I know you are a busy guy because your boss works you so hard
Im really glad to hear that I get you pumped up about projects, thats my aim and the way I see it, if I cant get you excited about it and “on board” with it, then the idea/product may well not be as exciting as I first think!
Everything you say here is totally true, the last thing you want is someone to churn out code, you need someone who has a vested interest, gets excited and is “on board”.
Thanks for the comment and thanks more so for being such a legend, As I said before, I couldnt do what I do without you, which is why, yr coming with me all the way!
Thanks again for the comments people.
Hey Josh,
Keep pumping out stuff like this and people will be calling you the “Guru to the Guru’s”, let alone Rich Schefren.
A lot of focus on outsourcing has always been about getting the donkey work produced by some poor soul in the third world for a dollar a day which is fine if you want mediocre work at best.
I fully agree with you about finding good people and treating them as part of the team and trying to get them as excited about your business as you are, rather than just cheap labour.
I have been really pleased with the work my article writer has produced so far and hopefully we can have a long-term relationship going. If so, I am going to treat him like gold!
Speak soon.

Hey Josh,
Awesome video. I am still really struggling with the outsourcing thing. I have gone through two graphics guys and now I’m working with a VA. I’m afraid this person probably isn’t going to work out either. I know first hand that it is hard to find good people. But once you find that right combination that forms your team, you’ve got to nurture them and treat them like gold. I’ve just got to find that team first.

Yo Josh, fabulous stuff man!
I know we’ve talked a bunch about the power of outsourcing, but the tips you’ve given in the video just really help sink everything in.
Outsourcing really does change the whole way you look at approaching a project, or even multiple at a time. You definitely have to plan accordingly and treat your team with respect, but if you can do that, you’re looking good!
This is inspiration to us all, man. Great tips and scenery bro!

Josh,
Rock n Roll… Business people think team and outsourcing period.
You are absolutely spot on with your comments.
Let me add this, I always bring people into projects that can think and want to think outside of the box.
Also the most skilled people usually are not the ones for me… I’m looking for the passionate ones that want to be in the company of top performers aka others with outside of the box passionate thinking mind sets.
Best wishes on your launch.
Got to get to a beach and feeeeeel the sand between my toes.
Salt water’s supposed to be good for you isn’t it.

Yeah Marc is a great member of the team. I cant reveal everyone because otherwise I would have to kill anyone who reads this post!
But the team who comes together to create our stuff is really great and I am lucky to have them.
I will be running affiliate systems for all of my products from now on and ill be letting you know as they launch.
Thanks for the comment bro, I look forward to catching up with you and seeing what you are working on soon!

Hi josh , whats your view on outsourcing, when your a newbie ,
its only because , im a person who likes to learn new things,
and find out how things work, and i think you can only do that by having a go yourself.
If i where to outsource i know that it might make me money but then i don’t know whether i would enjoy it as much, as i like trying to work out things for myself.
i’m made up when i learn something new.
don’t get me wrong once i have learn’t it i like to share it.
and that’s where i might come unstuck, trying to teach it to others.
i’m not the best in the world at putting things over,
and it might take forever.
ah well ill probably end up chasing my own tail.
cheers mick

As mentioned on your Video Marketing Classroom, you said to come over to your blog and introduce yourself.
Well, HELLO!
Great Video site by the way, superbly laid out. Don’t suppose that theme is available is it?
I’m in an industry where Video could be used to the max but is stuck in the dark ages. I’ve started using Video for the company I work for and using hosting via YouTube and so far so good. I’m using HD video and it looks great, so I’m hoping that I could teach a few others how to use Video within our industry and your theme would be a great tool.
Thanks again
Steve
They are right, Josh! I mean, I agree with the positive comments from the commentators posted here.

Thanks Josh – great stuff.
Particluarly like your take on treating your outsourcers like you would (or should!) treat a team of employees. It’s as true as ever that people work for more than money.
all the best
Mike
Hi Josh, thanks for the tips on outsourcing, I can really see why I need to outsource many areas of my new business.
I guess I never really thought about working on those relationships as much as the money making ones, point made and I shall be sure to use that tip when I begin to build my own team.
